Important changes to company law

This year will see the phased introduction of numerous changes to The Companies Act 2006, with all of it in place by October 2008.

In relation to private companies, the Act is designed to allow greater flexibility in how they operate, in such respects as, for instance, no longer needing to hold an annual general meeting or appoint a company secretary.

Also, for the first time, directors' duties will be subject to statutory provisions from October 2008, although much of this legislation has evolved over the years as case law.

We're sure you'll need to take these changes on board, so as part of our corporate service, Armstrong Watson has prepared an abbreviated overview of these lengthy documents, for your information.
